Protection From a Creepy Guy

This post is about what happened when we dropped off Audrey to her grandmother (Nikki's sister) after the birthday party. 

Several times when I have picked up the kids from Nikki or dropped them off we have met in the old CiCi's pizza parking lot on Broadway. (even when they lived here) In fact, we have met to eat there before they closed. I don't know if they closed or are relocated, but they are no longer there. So, the parking lot is usually empty. This day there was a car parked there when we picked up Audrey, and when we brought her back. There are several businesses across two parking lots on the other side (Party City, Dollar Store, Pawn Shop, Riley's Auto Parts). 

We got back to the parking lot to meet Nikki's sister between 9:30-10:00PM (I think). It was dark. The parking lot was empty except for that (abandoned?) car. I didn't park near it. We sat there waiting with the car running because it was hot. We were watching cars across the way come into the parking lot to see if it was Nikki's sister. She was a little late. A white car with dark windows pulled into the parking lot and drove toward our parking lot. Ryan said, "could she be driving a different car (her car was black)?" I looked and said, "no." I didn't pay any more attention, but Ryan watched that car. As he watched, he saw the guy drive directly behind us and then he saw his wheel turn (from his side mirror) right beside us. The guys window was half way down. Ryan said quickly, "move, move, move, move!!!" I leaned forward as I started to put it in drive and saw it was a black guy with a lopsided hat. Ryan said I was very slow. The guy stared at us. Ryan said he gave him a such a look, that Ryan knew he was up to no good. He was afraid he was going to get shot. We didn't open our windows, and since I started moving, he started moving. He drove straight back out of the parking lot. Thank God!! He did not stop anywhere else. He drove straight to us from the road and straight back to the road. I know God took care of us. Why the guy decided not to bother us and move on, I don't know. Ryan said maybe because he saw little Audrey in the back and decided not to bother us. Who knows. I just know God protected us, and I am so thankful!!

I moved to the Riley parking lot way down on the corner. They were still open, but I didn't feel safe. We watched everyone constantly. Finally Nikki's sister got there and we all left. Ryan and I went to feed Martha's cats. Funny thing, many times I have felt a little creepy being outside there at night because it is in the country next to the woods. But, this time we felt really, really safe. Hahaha I was never so happy to get home in my life. I thought about it, and creeped out about it for days. It has taught me a lesson to be more careful. Life is precious and I don't want us to loose ours. It isn't worth it to take a chance at danger (although we didn't know it was a dangerous place). I should have thought to park in a more populated area (and no where in the city at night!!!!) 

I am SO thankful God spared us from harm.
I am so thankful I live in a place where I feel safe. (I know danger can happen anywhere, but I pray for my family's safety daily.) And the truth is, I don't like to be outside my home at night really.
I am so thankful Ryan was with me that night. I don't want to even think about it otherwise!!

Haley and Mason's Birthday

A few weeks ago Nikki had a birthday party for Haley and Mason. She always celebrates with one party because their birthday's are so close together and they have the same friends. She invited the neighbors, and Ryan and I brought Nikki's sister's granddaughter Audrey. Nikki told me she didn't know who would show up because she didn't request rsvp. Oh my! We were both shocked. I think the whole neighborhood showed up. It was a great block party. LOL

Nikki got a huge, fun water slide for the kids to play.

They had a blast!!! It was the best party the kids have ever had. I heard one little girl tell Haley it was the best party she had ever been to. 

The older boys were jumping high and then sliding down. Of course Haley had to also. She is very athletic. I love this pic of her.

It started to thunder, so we all went inside for cake and ice cream. Nikki made Haley a "Dora" rainbow cake, and Mason had a chocolate m&m cake. I didn't get a picture of Mason's cake.

Nikki amazed me how she made the decorations for the cake.

She also made them individual cakes to use to blow out the candles.

Nikki's friends were a great help in getting everyone their cake and ice cream.

After they ate they played again on the slide, then they went inside to open gifts.

After everyone left, I gave them my gifts. I got Mason a wooden train track on a table. He was so surprised.

I got several smaller gifts for Haley.

My favorite gift to her was a box of craft/card making supplies.

After a long day, they were finally able to play with their toys.

Ryan went outside to put together the trampoline and swing set Andrew and Nikki got the kids. Then they all came out to help. :)

It is hard to see, but he is behind her. 

What a great party they had. Nikki says she is never doing that again, and I say, "Yay!!! Hahahahah It was crazy at times, but it turned out wonderful!!

Ryan and I took Audrey to meet Nikki's sister, then we went to feed Martha's cats (Martha's family was on vacation). By the time we got home we were so exhausted!!

I am so thankful it turned out to be a wonderful block party. Ha!

I am so thankful they are friends with their neighbors. I only talk to one of my neighbors, and I think it is great when neighbors are friends.

A Typical Day At Work

Today when I got to work I went in and sat down in "my" chair. I always go in and sit down quietly for a while to see if I hear Judie. I don't want to barge in and wake her. I couldn't hear her moving, but her TV was blaring as usual. I waited a while and went to check on her. She was sitting on the side of the bed drinking her Mountain Dew. She is addicted to it I think. I said good morning several times, but she didn't hear me. Not wanting to startle her (as I sometimes do) I decided to go ahead and fix her breakfast. I fixed two pieces of sausage, two slices of toast, and an egg. I fixed her a new cold Mountain Dew. Then I took it all to her room. She was sound asleep. So, I took it back and covered it for later. Probably around 15 min later, she poked her head around the corner. I always very cheerfully say "good morning! How are you?" Sometimes she says "don't ask," and sometimes she says "wrong question." LOLOL Then we talk about how she is feeling, and she is always tired. She usually always says, "have you ever had days like that", and I always say, "yes I have!" She sat down and started eating her breakfast (after I warmed it up). 

Earlier I saw that Dennis had bought flea medicine for the dogs. I wanted to give them a bath before he put the med on because they were so dirty. I called him to make sure he hadn't used it yet, and he hadn't. I gave them both a bath while she was eating her breakfast.

Pugsley is very old and Heidi is not far behind him. I love clean animals. I also trimmed around their eyes. Whew, it was hard work bending down to bathe them.

Dennis came home right as I finished. He had to get ready to go speak at the Halls Business Club. I had to wait til he left, and then I cleaned the bathroom. I also put the towels in the wash. Then I emptied the dishwasher and put in her breakfast dishes.

By this time Judie was going thru books that were in a box by her chair. She LOVES books! She has a bedroom full of books. She thinks a young guy stays in that room. Sometimes we go in that room, and she gooes thru the books. She thinks they belong to the guy that stays in there. I tell her over and over and over that they are her books, and the guy is gone. It is sad. I want her to know and enjoy the fact that they belong to her. Sometimes I bring small boxes of a few books to sit by her chair for her to look at. She usually doesn't remember from one time to the next that she has already gone thru them. 

She has a hard time reading now. I know she was an avid reader in her life, but now it is hard for her to keep up with the plot. This morning she was reading one of the books from the box. She chose a random page and told me a lady was about to have a baby. Later she read a line to me about a man seeing as a blind man with his hands holding the sides of a narrow wall. She has a lot of mysteries. It must have been an interesting mystery. I wish she could read like she used to. But, even if she can't comprehend the way she did before, she thrills to sort thru them.

Her lunch today was turkey/dressing/potatoes/peas banquet meal. It smelled so good. I ate a peanut butter/banana sandwich. I usually eat that every day. If I don't have a banana, I eat a peanut butter sandwich. After lunch Judie got very sleepy. Right when she closed her eyes, Dennis came back. He didn't stay long. He changed back to work clothes and went back to his Fruit and Berry Patch. As soon as he left, she fell asleep. I folded a load of towels and put them away. As I sat there while she slept, I got veeeerrry sleepy, but I didn't go to sleep.

Today while I was at work Liz (my niece) sent me this beautiful picture of her new haircut.

This is how long it was before she got it cut.

She is sending her hair to wigs for kids. That is a lot of gorgeous hair, but I love the short cut too. It is great for summer. She looks gorgeous.

Dennis got home around 4 and said, "you know what, it's hot out there. I tell ya what kid, I'm home now and you can leave or wait till 4:30." I said, "I'll leave now. Thank you." I stepped outside and it was soooo hot. My car temp. said 96*. 

I decided on the way home I would take a little nap before I fixed supper. Ryan had washed and folded clothes for me, so I was in good shape. He is such  a sweetheart, and it really helps that we are trying to buy him a car.;) I told him he should wash my car. My car was so dirty and I was embarrassed to drive it to those car lots with shiney cars. He told me he would detail it for me. Oh my y'all, he did an excellent job. I am so excited. 

He said he probably cleaned two years worth of dirt off of it, and that is probably right.

And finally, I always have to end my post with my grands. Nikki sent me this pic last night after they finished eating spaghetti for supper.

Ahhhh I love those spaghetti faces!! 

Today I am thankful:
1. That I got off early. Yaaaaaay!
2. That even tho' I have had to take care of a lot of things in my life, God has given me a son that is a tremendous help to me!
3. That I have nieces and nephews that I love and have a great relationship with. And I am thankful they love Jesus.
